Dear readers,
This is a long-overdue post, it’s high time I updated you on the exciting changes in my life (which are going to benefit all of you actually). My sister calls it my rebirth, and it’s actually how it feels.
To start with, my two cats, my cold-press juicer and myself have just moved to another continent, in a totally different life. We have joined my partner in Maputo (Mozambique) where the avocados are bigger, pineapple sweeter, and mangoes tastier than I have ever experienced. It’s fruit and vegetable paradise, my kind of heaven.
Seeing the impact my lifestyle and blog have had on my friends and family, I’ve felt the desire to take my passion for health and wellness to the next level and follow my dream. So I’ve taken the leap: I quit my job in Brussels and I’ve started an amazing online course called Integrative Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. My intention is to become a Health Coach and help people to be the best version of themselves, be healthier, have more energy and feel more confident.
So what’s a Health Coach, you ask?
“A Health Coach is a supportive mentor and wellness authority helping clients feel their best through food & lifestyle changes by tailoring individualised wellness programs.” Mind you, relationships, exercise, career, and spirituality are just as important to our health as the food we eat, so it’s not just about what you put on your plate. You can eat as well as you want and still have a very unhealthy lifestyle; the idea is to work on the individual as a whole with a holistic approach.
The course is based on ‘bio-individuality’, meaning that each person has very specific needs for their own health according to their age, constitution, metabolism, gender, and lifestyle. What works for a 45-year-old mother of three with a full-time job as a nurse won’t work for a 28-year-old single man working as a builder, and what works for you in the winter won’t necessarily work in the summer. You get the idea.
That’s the first part of my big plan. I’m also following a Yoga Teacher Training course. A healthy mind in a healthy body, right? Yoga is so much more than a physical activity, it’s also an emotional, mental and spiritual discipline. It is a way of life that you experience on and off your mat; it’s a fantastic way to find your true self, and to feel more centred and grounded.
I’ll be done with both trainings within six months, although I’ll already be able to start my very own Health Coaching practice in October. I’ll start here in Maputo and then back to Europe whenever we feel ready!
I live by the following quote: Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you’ll land among the stars. My “moon” is to open a holistic center, then maybe write a book, have a Youtube channel, be a motivational speaker on Ted Talk, and whatever else the Universe has in store for me. The sky is the limit.
I am grateful and blessed to have found my own path and to be able to follow it. I have never felt so confident and whole, I’m exactly where I need to be and it feels amazing!
I’ll make sure to keep you updated on my progress and will definitely share with you my learnings and new recipes, so stay tuned!
Love and light.
Liliz
